Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 September 2026
EasyUnscramble runs easyunscramble.com from the United Kingdom. This policy explains, in plain English, what information we collect, why we collect it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can use every puzzle and tool without an account and without giving us any personal details.
- Analytics cookies are off unless you choose to allow them.
- If you sign up for the daily puzzle email, we use your email address only to send that email. We never sell it.
What we collect
If you sign up for the daily puzzle email. We store your email address, the date and time you signed up, the IP address and browser type you signed up from (so we can spot and block spam sign-ups), and a random code used for your one-click unsubscribe link.
If you allow analytics cookies. We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used: which pages people visit, where they click and scroll, how long they stay, and technical details such as device type, browser and approximate location worked out from your IP address. Clarity can also create recordings of how a page was used, which we review to find and fix problems. We do not use Clarity to identify you personally. If you choose "No thanks", Clarity does not load at all.
Whenever you visit a page. Like every website, our hosting and security providers process technical information such as your IP address and browser details in order to deliver pages to you, keep the site secure and block abusive traffic.
Web fonts. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser sends a request to Google, which can see your IP address.
Kept only on your own device. Your light or dark mode preference, the name you type when you challenge a friend, and your cookie choice are saved in your own browser. They are never sent to us.
Why we use it
- Daily puzzle email — because you asked us to (your consent). You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Analytics — only with your consent, given through our cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
- Delivering and securing the site — our legitimate interest in running a website that works and is protected from abuse.
Who processes information for us
- Microsoft (Clarity) — website analytics, only if you allow analytics cookies.
- Cloudflare — delivers the site quickly and protects it from attacks.
- Crazy Domains (Dreamscape Networks) — hosts the website and sends our emails. Their servers are in Sydney, Australia, which is where newsletter sign-ups are stored.
- Google — web fonts.
Some of these providers store or process information outside the United Kingdom, including in Australia and the United States. Where that happens, we take steps to make sure your information stays protected in line with UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
- Daily puzzle email: for as long as you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe we stop emailing you immediately and keep a note that you unsubscribed, so you are never emailed again by mistake. If you would like that record deleted too, just ask.
- Analytics: Microsoft keeps Clarity data for a limited period under its own retention rules; recordings are kept for a much shorter time than summary statistics.
- Technical and security logs: kept by our hosting and security providers for short periods.
Advertising
We do not currently show advertising on EasyUnscramble. In future we may introduce advertising (for example, Google AdSense) to help keep the site free. If we do, we will update this policy first, and we will ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are used.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
EasyUnscramble is suitable for all ages, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their email address, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes, such as introducing advertising, will also be shown on the site.
