Tips for Better Results
- Hunt for bingos: every play that uses all seven tiles earns a +50 bonus. Keep balanced racks with a mix of vowels and consonants.
- Memorize the high-yield Scrabble tile values: J and X are 8, Q and Z are 10. Pair them with a triple-letter square for an instant 24-30 point letter contribution.
- Learn the short Q-without-U words: QI, QAT, QOPH, QADI, QANAT. They turn a stranded Q into a 11+ point parallel play.
- Use the two-letter list for parallel plays. Stacking a five-letter word above a row already on the board can score four separate words in one turn.
- Hold an S or a blank for a triple-word lane. A single S can extend an existing seven-letter word into a 100+ point swing.
- If your rack has too many vowels (AEIOU stuck together), dump them on a small play and refill — a balanced rack is worth more than a one-turn 24 points.
What is a Scrabble Word Finder?
A Scrabble word finder takes the letters on your rack and returns every legal word you can build from them, validated against the official Scrabble dictionary. The North American tournament standard is the Tournament Word List (TWL), maintained by the North American Scrabble Players Association. Outside North America, players use Collins Scrabble Words (SOWPODS), which is slightly larger. Our finder uses TWL by default.
A finder is a study tool, not a cheat. Top players use them between games to learn new vocabulary, drill bingo stems, and spot the high-value plays they missed in post-game review. Used during casual play, it speeds up turns and helps newer players see what is possible on a given rack. What is a bingo, and how do I find one?
A bingo is a play that uses all seven tiles in your rack in a single turn, earning a +50 point bonus on top of the regular score. To hunt for bingos, enter all seven of your letters and look at the seven-letter results first. Common bingo stems like SATIRE, RETINA, and TONIER unlock many high-value plays.
Why do I see different scores for the same word elsewhere?
Scores on this page show the raw tile value of each word. The actual score on the board depends on which premium squares your tiles cover, whether you stack across two words, and the +50 bingo bonus. Use the raw value as a baseline and add multipliers based on your specific placement.
How do I find words that fit a specific board spot?
Use the starts-with and ends-with filters to lock the first or last letter of the result. For hooks and extensions, set a minimum length and scan for words that build off a letter already on the board.
Can I use blank tiles?
Yes. Enter a question mark (?) for each blank tile in your rack. The finder will return every word that could be made with that blank standing in for any letter, scored as zero for the blank tile itself.
What about two-letter words?
Two-letter words are the backbone of parallel play in Scrabble. Worthwhile TWL two-letter plays include QI, ZA, JO, XU, XI, and KA. The finder includes them all by default.
